The 2S1 is a ‘transceiver communicator’ allowing conflict-free setup with either of the two transceivers driving one amplifier. It is specifically designed to be used with the ACOM 2000S valve amplifier. Of course, any two identical modern radios could be drivers, however the supplied cables are set for Yaesu FT1000 / FT990.
A small curiosity: the 2S1 has been in production virtually unchanged since 1999! A testimony for ‘getting it right’ on the first go.
Do you need one? Most likely not, unless you are heavily involved in SO2R contesting. (SO2R stands for single operator, two radios category).
However, if you do have the ACOM 200S amplifier and the 10 antenna switcher then the 2S1 is a handy accessory to have. You never know: one day you may need it.
In stock. Price: $590.
Needed or not, the 2S1 comes with a downloadable brochure and a detailed operating manual. Clear, well written documents you would expect from a company who prides itself on professionalism.
As said before, ACOM amplifiers are not just well made internally, but external finishes are comparable to the finest high end audio amplifiers.
If you are serious about investing in quality and performance, taking the enjoyment of ham radio to the next level, then ACOM is the way to go. You will be impressed.
