This morning I had a meeting with Mr. Hacko. A brief one, with just one item on the agenda: my plans for DXing for 2024.

And the plan is simple: to become the number one ICOM dealer by Christmas and to grow this mailing list to 3,000 subscribers.

“Ambitious, but possible. Who is your competition and what resources do you need to make this happen?” – he asked.

I’ve done my research: my only competitors are two established, mature businesses who have been around for decades. However, both have peaked a long time ago, and one has already announced their soon retirement.

Mr Hacko promptly reminded me that underestimating competition is unwise and outright dangerous.

“I am confident that I can accomplish both goals with sufficient working capital, and a clever advertising campaign. Actually, I am prepared to put my neck on the chopping board, if I fail, I’ll resign”

“Done deal. What do you need?”

“An additional $250K in working capital, $25K advertising budget and a big fat give-away prize.”

“Another IC-9700?”

“No, I am thinking a brand new IC-7610, valued at $6,300!”

“Yes to all” – he said.

So here we are. On my desk I have a brand new IC-7610 to be delivered free of charge to one lucky winner. This trade promotion is available to new subscribers who join the mailing list starting now.

But that’s not all: there is no point on sitting on advertising funds!  An executive decision: we are giving away a second ICOM transceiver!

To get in the draw for the second IC-7610: buy any amateur radio ICOM transceiver between February 16 and December 16, 2024. This offer is valid to all subscribers, old and new.

The only condition is that you must remain on the mailing list until the draw date and have a valid VK callsign.

Clearly, you should invite your licensed ham friends to join our mailing list. These are two massive prizes to be won and by inviting them, you are doing them a massive favour.

Finally, a small request: if you are already a subscriber, then please don’t subscribe under different email address or different callsign. All entries are checked by a human. Please play fair. Thank you.
