The past 24 hours have seen one of the most exciting 6m openings of this solar cycle: Japan and China rocking and rolling into South America.

The path literally goes over my head so I could see hundreds of Japanese calling frantically. Absolutely amazing – the waterfall flooded with signals.

On the Southern side, about 60 different Brazilians, Argentinians, and Uruguayans. I have not seen that many SA stations at the same time even on 10m band!

For fun, I’ve jotted a few calls down. Many called and worked PX0FF, DXpedition to Fernando De Noronha, a volcanic archipelago about 350 kilometres off Brazil’s northeast coast, a rare one on any band or mode.

One can only imagine the excitement of the lucky Japanese who made it into the log. A true once in a life time opportunity. The magic of the magic band!

A tiny 3 element Yagi – not much bigger than a TV antenna – could get you working amazing DX on 6m band in no time. So what are you waiting for?
