Expert Electronics has released a full, comprehensive manual for the latest software called ExpertSDR3.

The manual and software are available from

The ESDR3 is not just a patched-up version of ESDR2. It is a completely new software written from the ground up, on a new platform.

You will be amazed with faster loading time, new features, new spectrum resolution, with significantly less load on CPU.

The CW module has been completely re-written, practically turning your existing hardware into a completely new radio, a class ahead of ‘previous model’ – at no extra cost to you. This is the magic of SDR.

The list of features is simply too long to mention here; in essence, ESDR3 will allow you to interface and integrate all popular ham applications – from digi modes, N1MM contesting, CW skimmers, loggers, hardware controllers, amplifiers, antenna accessories. Need multiple CAT connections? Not a problem. Remote? Again, yes to all.

The only way to describe the experience is ‘revolutionary’. Never in the history of amateur radio has the end user had so many options to experiment, enhance, network and integrate. Yes the learning curve is steep, and it will take months to become an expert-level user, but entering the SDR game is now more affordable than ever. SunSDR 2DX is not a radio; it is a platform with endless possibilities. For only $3,999 you have an opportunity to not just join the revolution, but to be at the very frontier – either as a user, developer or innovator.

This morning I installed the ESDR3 to my desktop computer. From download to making my first FT8 and CW contacts: less than 15 minutes. No VAC cables, virtual ports, third party interfacing: the TCP connection between the radio and JTDX was a matter of a few clicks. Not bad for a beta version, still in development.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: SunSDR is not for everyone. Definitely not for your ham who has no patience nor desire to learn. It is a kit for a dedicated, willing and curious amateur willing to mingle with the smartest kids on the block. Personally, I am quite happy to invest in a platform if for no other reason then to watch the revolution from the nose-bleeds. Priceless.
